Let our on staff Concierge team help you plan the best trip.  Once you book we will reach out to you and help you plan all your needs including Groceries & Drinks, Excursions, Massages, Private Chef, Boat Rentals and other needs for the perfect stay.  If you plan to eat in or go out for dinner, we certainly advise picking up your "refreshments" for the first sunset and having breakfast in the fridge for your first morning in Paradise.  

The below information will be very beneficial for helping you plan your perfect stay with us.  If you have any unique or specific questions please do reach out to us directly for assistance and we can help direct you to the right information.   Questions about travel requirements, bringing Service Animals to Bahamas, shipping items to The Bahamas or anything unique you want to know.

Grocery Stores:
George Town has a couple of grocery stores and other shops to get provisions, but do be aware that stores are only stocked up once a week (usually Thursday) so planning ahead is always the best.  Exuma Markets is the largest grocery store and is in George Town's harbor front area.  Shop-Rite is on the inland side of Lake Victoria in George Town. Smitty's is in the Hooper's Bay area west of George Town.  Prime Island Meats is located between the airport and George Town and has freshly imported meats (steak, chicken, pork, lamb, sausages) and seafood, as well as other grocery items like fruits and vegetables. They offer call ahead ordering so that you can pick up your order on the way out to Stocking Island. 242-336-3627. They are closed on Sundays.

Liquor stores:
There are many liquor stores in and around George Town and a few small stores between George Town and Little Exuma (closed on Sundays - very important to know). Always a good idea to "buy in bulk" when going to the Liquor store, so you have plenty of supply when on island.

Concierge Grocery Shopping:
We recommend having the house fully stocked with food & drinks upon arrival. In preparation for your stay, we will send you a checklist of meal options and then we can arrange everything to be ready when you get here. Let us help you plan your first dinner and first morning's breakfast so you have it ready for you, and of course, plenty of your favorite beverages of choice!

Getting to Exuma and Stocking Island.
The Barrier Island House is located on Stocking Island, which is 12 minute boat ride from George Town, the main town in Exuma. There are no roads to Stocking Island so the short, but beautiful boat ride is required. Exuma International Airport is 20 minute car ride outside of George Town, airport code GGT. GGT has direct jet connections from Atlanta, Charlotte (NC), Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Toronto (CAN), and Nassau (BAH). The small airport makes it easy and quick to get in and out.
Below are the cities that have flights directly into Great Exuma. Please do check the airline websites for the most up to date flight information.

From Atlanta - daily flights from on Delta. About 2 hours and 20 minutes.
From Miami - multiple flights per week on American. About 1 hour.
From Charlotte - multiple flights per week on American. About 2 hours and 20 minutes.
From Ft. Lauderdale - multiple flights per week on Silver Airways (affiliated with United). About 1 hour.
From Toronto - weekly flights on Air Canada About 3 hours and 30 minutes.
From Nassau - multiple daily flights on BahamasAir and Western Air.
Private Flight options are always available through various services. GGT is still the airport code for private aviation, and all private flights are managed by ODYSSEY Aviation, which has it's own private air terminal at GGT.

Arriving By Sea.

Our Concierge team can help you plan your arrival by yacht, including information and Customs requirements, Mooring for yachts in Elizabeth Harbor, depth of lagoon during tidal changes for small boat entry to the Lagoon, the house dock and we can help organize and plan re-fueling in Georgetown, if needed, for guests arriving by yacht.

Getting To and From Barrier Island House and Exuma during stay.
Arrival And Departure.
We can help plan car service for you from the Airport to the George Town boat dock, where our boat captain will be waiting to assist you over to the house. Taxi Services are always available as well - the price per taxi is approx. $55. We do not suggest renting a car directly upon arrival, as you will not need one for most of your stay. We can certainly help arrange a rental for a day or two if you would like one to explore the mainland during your stay.
During your stay.
For getting to the Beach Club or back and forth to the mainland, we have also have access for the PEACE & PLENTY shuttle service (for house guests only) on the hour, till 7pm. There is also a water taxi service that operates during the daylight hours and can be contacted for runs at a low per person charge.
Boat Rental companies are located in George Town and they have a variety of small and mid-sized Boston Whaler style boats for rental. Please be aware that MIMMS does not allow boat rental Overnight, so any rental boats will need to be returned to their dock each day. We have other companies that will rent a boat for you to keep at the house overnight.
If you do rent a boat for the day and need an experienced Captain to drive you and your group too all the best locations, our Boat Captain can be hired to drive your boat for you, and show you around all the right spots.
